What is centring?
Centring is a method to self-regulate. It can be an instant state shifter. For example if you are feeling anxious or nervous, centring can help you to calm down. There are a lot of different ways to centre.
I would like to invite you to try out one of them:
Sit comfortably in a chair and take three deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Feel your feet on the ground. How do the soles of your feet touch the surface? Just observe without changing anything.
Pay attention to your sitting bones on the chair. How does that feel?
Balance your posture. Adjust so you are straight but not stiff and so you can feel the space around you.
Relax your belly, your shoulders and your jaw.
Soften the space around your eyes.
And lastly, I invite you to think of someone who makes you smile.
Important: Take a long as you need to really feel into each step.
How do you feel after this centring session? Are you more connected to your body, calmer, more at ease?
Centring needs to be practiced regularly to really become a habit. When you are comfortable with it, try it when there is some stressor in your life, nothing too big to start with.
I practice centring regularly (for example before each body work or coaching session:-)) and it really helps me to stay present and connected.
